Dr. Nishimura graduated from Mie University in 2001 and joined the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Mie University. After completing his clinical fellowship, he pursued his PhD at Mie University Graduate School of Medicine, earning his degree in 2010. In 2011, he focused on foot and ankle surgery at Nara Medical University. Subsequently, he served as a research fellow at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, collaborating with Prof. Yokota and Dr. Hamamura from 2013 to 2014. Upon returning to Japan in 2014, he assumed the role of a lecturer in the Department of Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine at Mie University Graduate School of Medicine.
His primary scientific interests encompass foot and ankle sports injuries, endoscopic approaches to disorders of the foot and ankle, peroneal tendon dislocation, hallux valgus, and ankle osteoarthritis. Dr. Nishimura actively advanced epidemiological research in a Japanese rural village, investigating various foot and ankle disorders.
In 2017, Dr. Nishimura was honored with a traveling fellowship between JOA (Japanese Orthopaedic Association) and AOA (American Orthopaedic Association), as well as between JSSF (Japanese Society for Surgery of the Foot) and KFAS (Korean Foot & Ankle Surgery). He further received a traveling fellowship between JOSSM (Japanese Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine)-KOSSM (Korean Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine) and GOTS (German-Austrian-Swiss Society for Orthopaedic Traumatologic Sports Medicine) in 2019. He serves as an Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Orthopaedic Science (JOS).
