Research interests: hand, wrist and elbow surgery, cartilage repair, cartilage tissue engineering, cartilage metabolism, biomechanics, biomaterials.
Dr. Iwasaki completed his research fellowship in Biomechanics Laboratory at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine from April 1994 to August 1995. And he then received his MD at Asahikawa Medical College in 1988 and PhD at Hokkaido University in 1998. He is currently serving as Professor and Chairman of Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Hokkaido University Graduate School of Medicine, Japan.
Dr. Iwasaki’s research mainly focus on both clinical and basic research in Orthopaedic Surgery, including hand, wrist and elbow surgery, cartilage repair, cartilage tissue engineering, cartilage metabolism, biomechanics, biomaterials.
Also, he has many memberships in national and internationally established orthopaedics societies, including Japanese Orthopaedic Association, Japanese Society for Surgery of the Hand, Japanese Society for Surgery of the Elbow and International Cartilage Repair Society et al.
